Burial Benefits:
Burial payment up to$1,000 is also offered through the Veterans Service Commission for the indigent or for those who cannot afford the cost of burial or for those in which payment of this cost will cause financial hardship. Veterans, veterans parent, veterans spouse or a veterans surviving spouse are eligible for this benefit. The assistance may be applied for by whomever is handling the deceased final affairs by making an appointment with our office. We will need a copy of the veterans DD 214, proof of relationship (if deceased is other than the veteran), certificate of death and a detailed copy of the funeral invoice.

Please note that the funeral home final bill before any payment posting should not exceed a total of $5,000 to be considered for this benefit. (Back to Top)
